The small ginger she-cat padded slowly into camp. Her eyes were tired, but they glowed with pride in her catch. Two voles and a mouse! Better than usual, even though she'd been hunting since before the sun rose. It was now high in the sky, and the heat beat down on her fur. At this moment she was glad that her fur wasn't as long (or as dark!) as some cats. Padding over to the fresh-kill pile, she deposited her prey and paused to take a small shrew. Her reward for a job well done, so to speak. She hadn't eaten all day and her stomach was growling as she padded over to a shady spot by the camp wall to eat. She purred sleepily as she watched her clan go about their day. Perhaps someone would come over and sit beside her?

Batflight
Busy, busy, busy! Why did everyone have to be so busy? It seemed every cat was off hunting or training or doing something more important than hanging out with him. He couldn't even play with the kits! Supposedly they need "sleep". Batflight felt he was truly at a loss today. His train of thought was interrupted by a loud crack as the small branch he was perched on began to break under his weight. He quickly leapt down to the branch below him, and continued to make his way back to camp through the trees. So it wasn't the quickest or easiest means of travel, but it was so much more fun than simply walking. Getting down wasn't so fun though. When the camp was in sight, he hopped pretty smoothly to the branch below him, but the next hop wasn't so smooth and he clumsily tumbled down a few branches. He let out a tiny "oof!" as his stomach collided with a thick low hanging branch. Chuckling to himself, he slid off the branch and landed not-so-gracefully on his feet. "Nothin' to it!" He said aloud to himself, shaking the leaves off his fur and trotting in to camp.
Gadzooks, what a ghost town! Where in starclan was everyone? Stopping to look a little closer, it appeared there were a few cats hanging around, but they stayed in the shade to escape the heat. He supposed he couldn't blame him, the sun had been beating down on his black fur all day. But a little sun isn't enough to stop a good adventurer! Out of the corner of his eye he spotted a lump of ginger fur. Maplefur! He remembered her being an apprentice not too long ago, she was cool! Batflight didn't hesitate to run over to the she-cat. "Hey Maplefur!" He mewed cheerfully. "Hey, do you wanna-" his question was interrupted by a loud rumbling noise from his stomach. "Hehe, umm...on second thought, mind if I join you for a bite to eat?"

Maplefur
Just as she was about to tuck into her shrew, her ears perked up at a voice. Batflight! She shook the sleepiness from her pelt and sat up, calling back as he ran over, "Hey Batflight! Whats up?" She chirped, now wide awake. She was always glad to see him, a good friend who was always down for a fun game or a playfight. She flicked her tail, inviting him to the shade as he approached. Listening intently as he began to speak again, and then stiffing a mrow of amusement when his stomach rumbled."Yeah, sure thing! We can talk after ya get somethin to eat. I just caught a few voles, and they're still warm!" She nodded in the direction of the fresh-kill pile, barely trying to hide hiding her pride in the catch before settling down and turning her attention back to her own meal, waiting for him to return and continue what he was saying. Maybe he had found something cool? Or wanted to go on another adventure? Guessing, she took a bite of her shrew, only half paying attention to it.

Skeletalstripe walked into camp and laid in the sun hoping it would help warm up his pelt while he got the water out of his fur. he couldn't shake the feeling that someone was going to ask how his paws got so wet.

Batflight
"Thanks!" The tom quickly spun around and snatched up a vole, then returned to the shady spot where Maplefur sat and situated himself across from her. He was positively famished! "Hey, this is fresh!" Batflight attempted to say through a mouth full of vole, but it came out more like a bunch of gibberish. He wasn't exactly the neatest eater; his mouth was covered in meat chunks. Over the smell of his meal, Batflight managed to pick up another scent moving about close by. Glancing up, he spotted Skeletalstripe out and about, nearly drenched. Using what few manners he had, he managed to swallow the food in his mouth before flicking his tail in the direction of the other tom and whispering to Maplefur, "What do ya think's up with that guy?"
Before she could reply he added jokingly, "Maybe he snuck on over to Riverclan territory for a swim?" Ok, so it was a stupid notion, but wouldn't that be exciting? The stream that ran through Thunderclan territory was kit stuff, Riverclan must have some really neat rivers! He bit another hunk out of his vole, but still watched Skeletalstripe out of the corner of his eye.

Maplefur
"No prob!" Maplefur nodded, own mouth full, barely noticing as he messily ate. She wasn't the neatest eater either, and didn't really mind. She did however, notice as Skeletalstripe entered camp. Finishing the rest of her meal in a few swift gulps, she looked in his direction. He was soaked! How in Starclan could a cat even get that wet without plunging headfirst into the river? She was startled out of her speculations as Batflight spoke, and turned back to him. Opening her mouth to speak but being cut off, she nodded vigorously at his speculation."Maybe!" She whispered back, though it was hardly a whisper with her always loud voice. Trying to lower it a bit, she added "Do you think we should ask him?" Already many questions were running through her head. If he had been swimming in the river, what would it have been like? The water looked so deep! She'd always wanted to try swimming really, but had never dared to risk it in the river. Would it have been cold? It always looked freezing, even on the hottest greenleaf days! And if he had been, why?

Skeletalstripe gave up on trying to get the water out of his fur. Standing his fur pointing in every which and way. He walked his mussels tensed as he hated the feeling of water in his fur, he seemed ready to jump clean out of his own fur. grabbing a small mouse as he was not very hungry and he sat in the middle of the clearing in the sun once again. Silently he began to eat.

Batflight
"Duh!" Of course Batflight was going to ask, he had next to zero concern for the privacy or personal space of other cats. But Skeletalstripe was the deputy, and the young warrior almost felt he shouldn't be questioning an authority figure. But of course, that wouldn't stop him.
"Psssst!" he hissed at the other tom, beckoning him with the flick of his tail. It didn't look like the deputy heard him, but before he called again he quickly took the last bite of his vole. "Psst!" A small chunk of meat flew a foot in front of him as he whispered. "Skeletalstripe! Over here!" Batflight couldn't just trot on up to him, this interrogation was a private matter and he was sitting in the middle of camp! Ok, so interrogation wasn't quite the right word for a nosy warrior wanting to pry into the deputy's business. "I've got this, I know how to talk to these guys. My name shoulda been Brown-nose, it's what I do best," he whispered to Maplefur, leaning toward her so ol' soggy paws wouldn't hear.

Skeletalstripe's ears were filled with the small noises and the sound of the many warriors around him. Soon he heard his name and he turned to find bat flight calling to him. He picked up his meal and headed toward the younger cat. When he reached Batflight and Maplefur he sat with them. What is it he asked in a low hiss as he knew they were trying to be quiet.

Maplefur
Maplefur scooted a bit closer to Skeletalstripe, looking around before poking her neck out, looking absolutely silly, and asking as quietly as she could, "Why are you all wet? What happened? Did you go swimming, or get attacked by a Riverclan cat?" She continued her flood of questions, voice getting louder as she went on, obviously having no sense of privacy. Thankfully, the camp was nearly empty. Or everyone would be asking questions.

Batflight Batflight's eyes narrowed as Maplefur began throwing questions at the deputy. He was the interrogation master, not her! He also stuck his tongue out at her for good measure.
Not sure how he could add on, Batflight could only wait in anticipation for a response. But that Maplefur must have bugs for brains! She didn't even flatter him first! He wasn't gonna tell them squat now! He would probably have to do his own sleuth work later, maybe go down by the Riverclan border and check for Skeletalstripe's scent. No, no he couldn't do that! He was dealing with Thunderclan's deputy, a noble and trustworthy cat who would never do something like cross into Riverclan territory...but it would be quite the adventure. Batflight had never had such conflicting opinions before, and it made him a bit dizzy. He always thought he would be a loyal Thunderclan cat, but it seemed there was a lot of neat stuff out there that required him to be not so loyal. But Batflight knew a nifty little trick to make all those confusing feelings go away, and that was completely ignoring them. Poof, gone. Conscience clear, no thinking necessary.
Inner conflict resolved, Batflight realized he must look a bit silly staring off into space like that. The young warrior quickly turned his gaze to the deputy, golden eyes wide as he waited for an explanation.

Skeletalstripe let out a small growl hoping the young warriors wouldn't notice. I would tell you but you'll have to wait till I am an elder first. but the thing is, the reason I am so wet is because i went over to the river to get a drink. So when I got there I thought about it for a wile but i wondered if i still remembered my skills as an apprentice. So I went for a little swim. He meowed trying to seem as heroic as possible as if telling some kits a tale he had been in many moons ago.

Maplefur
Rolling her eyes, the young she-cat stuck her tongue back out at Batflight. Come on, she wanted to know what the deputy was up to too! Well, maybe her wording wasn't the best... And she could have been a bit quieter... Okay maybe her interrogation was a total flop. Hmm. She could have done better she reflected, but shook her head clear. Maplefur would find out what was going on whether Skeletalstripe told them or not! I mean its not like he could have been doing anything bad, right? And so by association Maplefur wouldn't be doing anything bad, simple as that.
She tilted her head to the side as Skeletalstripe growled, though she just barely caught it. Either something was most certainly up or they were just annoying him. There was definitely some poking around to be done! However, she couldn't let her plans show. "So you were swimming after all! What was the water like? Was it fast?" She questioned, before discretely as she possibly could, she twitched her whiskers in Batflight's direction, trying to get his attention. This would be the most exciting adventure yet! Well after they finished talking to Skeletalstripe.

Batflight Batflight failed to noticed the hint of hostility in his deputy's tone; he only noticed that a brave and kind leader sat across from him. As he told his story of his swim in the river, Batflight's golden eyes widened and shone with admiration. It topped every adventure he had ever had! He had always been too fiercely loyal to the warrior code to attempt something so daring as deliberately crossing the Thunderclan border, but if the deputy could do it...
Maplefur's string of questions brought him back to reality, and suddenly he was wondering the details of the deputy's swim. Just how fast was the river? Did he catch any fish?
"And you didn't get caught?" He wondered aloud. Surely there were Riverclan cats on patrol? Wow, if only he was that stealthy!
The sight of twitching whiskers out of the corner of his eye caught the young warrior's attention, and as he turned to look at Maplefur the sparkle in her eyes told him she was thinking the same thing he was. It was the perfect idea, he could already feel the adrenaline! What could possibly go wrong?

Skeletalstripe had to chuckle at the young warriors questions. I am the sneakiest cat in our clan or at leased i think i am. and the water runs smooth and is nice and cool. and no i wasn't caught. he meowed a thinking of when he had an apprentice who asked questions like this.
