Lionwhisker
There was a warm vibrance about the morning when he stepped from the camp. Well he being Lionwhisker. Birds were chirping, the sun was rising, it was looking out to be a nice day. Well, maybe not for him. It had stormed all through the night, and the rain had leaked through the warriors den, and he hadn't gotten a wink of sleep. And with his dramatic attitude, it seemed like he wouldn't rest until the whole forest knew how badly the den had leaked. He swore that he would patch it when he got back from patrol. Oh right, he had to turn his attention back to the patrol! Lionwhisker and Tigershadow had been chosen to take the Sunhigh Shadowclan border patrol today. He hadn't spoken much to this she-cat before, to his surprise. Maybe a small exchanging of words over the fresh-kill pile or during a hunting patrol, but never one-on-one. But there's no point in going out on a patrol without speaking, that'd be downright boring. And of course, it's not as if this tom could keep his mouth shut for five minutes. Turning to the she-cat, he yawned loudly, "Wasn't that storm awful last night? Don't know 'bout you but I didn't get a wink 'a sleep!" Maybe not the smoothest first line, he thought as the words left his mouth, instantly twitching his whiskers in embarrassment for a reason he didn't yet know.
((ooc: There isn't a general territory area, so I didn't quite know where to put this. I figure since they're just leaving the camp, it could be in camp? Shrug.))

Tigershadow had also not got much sleep, but she seemed to carry her tiredness better than her patrol-companion. Occasional words had passed between them, perhaps at the fresh-kill pile or during a hunting patrol, but that was it... She looked forward to seeing what her den-mate was made of.
"The storm was indeed awful. But still, we don't need TOO much energy for hunting, don't know about you, but it's second nature to me now!"
She suddenly noticed Lionwhisker in all his glory... he certainly was a handsome cat.

Lionwhisker
Lionwhisker gave a loud rumbling purr of amusement, "You must be really tired! We're supposed to be on border patrol, checking for Shadowclan! I'm sure we can hunt on the way back though, if you like." Now that he was facing her head on, he realized that she was a rather pretty she-cat. "Maybe we could make a competition of it? Those are always great." He added, catching himself staring and turning away briskly (nearly tripping over his tail in the process), following the trail set in place by seasons of paws to the thunderpath. "Its early enough in the day, I don't think we'll be needed for another patrol after this until sundown." He continued, his sleepiness having faded as the forest came to life. "I think it'd be fun!" he chattered on, now wide awake.

Tigershadow was more than aware about the sparks that were flying off the two of them... As she walked slowly past him, she brushed her tail in his face, in a gesture of defiance.
"Bring it on, Lionwhisker, bring it on."

Lionwhisker
The two cats soon reached the border with Shadowclan. Lionwhisker hung back for a moment, before continuing to the edge of the thunderpath. Thunderpaths were one of the few things that he would admit scared him, not that he was willing to show it. Especially in front of a she-cat like Tigershadow! He peered across the thunderpath, unable to scent anything other than it's stench. He wrinkled his nose. No sign of Shadowclan activity across the border or within Thunderclan's scent marks. Good. He quickly marked the border where they were, and began walking along the edge of it, marking every so often. "Shadowclan has been rather quiet lately." He commented nonchalantly, veering away from the border as soon as they were done, "I wonder what they're up to."

"I've always thought... that when you hear nothing from someone for a while, it's because they're plotting something..."
She looked at him then, sadness and worry in her eyes, but she still managed to joke "Whatever it is, you'll protect me right?" She nuzzled him gently.

Lionwhisker
Lionwhisker was taken aback by the sudden show of affection. He wasn't used to being shown affection, especially from she-cats. Usually they just found him annoying! He stood there, mouth slightly open for a moment, before recovering. "Well of course! It's my duty!" He nodded vigorously, before getting a mischievous glint in his eye. "So now that we're done patrolling... How about that competition?"

Tigershadow stretched contently. The sun was high, making her feel pleasantly sleepy. Without saying a word, she noticed a squirrel. She stalked it, and ran up the tree and caught it, dropping it on Lionwhisker's head. "1-0 to me, Lionwhisker."

Lionwhisker
Twitching his ears, he pawed the squirrel from his head."Heh. Youre on, Tigershadow." The tom purred, stalking off into the underbrush. After a moment, he caught the scent of a sparrow. He soon spotted it, pecking at the roots of an oak tree, trying to pull a worm up. Good, it was distracted. He slowly stalked up to it, and after a few seconds, leapt. It never knew what hit it, he thought triumphantly, delivering the killing bite. No match for him. Standing back up, he padded back to where Tigershadow was, dropping the sparrow at her paws. "Hows that for a catch?"

Tigershadow purred. She was impressed, that sparrow didn't even know he was there until he was on it...
She buried both of their catches, so any other predators didn't get to it. Then, she scented a mouse. She couldn't see it, so she followed the scent, making sure to keep her steps light and her weight on her haunches. She felt momentarily proud that her muscles responded so easily, until she saw the mouse. It was nibbling on a seed, intent on it, and had no idea it was there. She leaped on top of it, taking its life with one quick bite, before it had a chance to scream it was dead. She walked up to Lionwhisker, placed her catch in front of him, and purred. "Not as good as your sparrow admittedly, but still I caught something!"
