EMBERPAW A foot held at an awkward angle, Emberpaw limped back into camp. She held her head down, trying to hide the burns of embarrassment of her unnatural gait as a few warriors turned to watch her. It was her own stupidity that had put her here. She'd been careless training out in the Snake Rocks with Darkstep, and strolled right over an adder. The long creature succeeded in striking her forepaw, leaving it sore and swollen around the bite. She muttered curses under her breath as she turned to Iceshard's den.
She poked her head inside. Her wide amber gaze swept over the area, seeing no one within immediate sight. She frowned. Would she be stuck with this shaming pain for much longer? What if Iceshard would be gone for another good while? She sighed audibly, and stumbled deeper into the den. She sat down as neatly as she could, tucking her tail over her well paw and resting the injured lightly on the floor. It was her first time experiencing the medicine cat's den, so she was a bit uneasy as to what would be done to her.
Her thoughts were struck short as a slight noise came from the back of the den. Someone - or something - was in here for sure. No wind could penetrate to make that sound. Cautiously, Emberpaw called outward, "Is that you, Iceshard?"

NETTLEPAW you may say I'm a dreamer but I'm not only one
The young voice she has heard inside the den has made the medicine cat apprentice turn around, seeing a ginger she-cat, about similar age as hers, with bright eyes that shined at her. And an injured leg. The med. cat apprentice mostly took her concern about her leg, like any medicine cat would do, her permanently sad-looking eyes quickly analyzed it. "Aha. Another adder case, and this time a swollen forepaw.
She gazed at it for a second, then framed her pale hazel eyes to the apprentice, "Oh, hello! I am Nettlepaw, Iceshard isn't currently here and is busy. I will be assisting you while she is gone. Please sit down and wait a bit while find the right herbs to heal your forepaw..." Then she quickly rushed like a spark, a lightning struck in the sky behind the dark rain setting, near the neatly placed herbs to find the one that suit for swollen paws. She was training for quite a long time and knows what to do, like Iceshard said to her once, "be always ready, it is your duty."
Nettlepaw was quite happy that the she-cat came to the den, she was dying out of boredom whole day! And she happened to be her first real patient, as usually she hurries around the herbs to find the fitting ones for bites, aches and anything else when Iceshard is around, so she was quite happy to finally do her first real work.

EMBERPAW A smaller cat than expected greeted her, and she looked puzzled for a moment. Quickly, she remembered this was Nettlepaw. Emberpaw nearly mistook her for Iceshard - after all, both cats shared their long, white fur and both happened to share the same duties. But she quickly disregarded that thought as the busy little she-cat in front of her obviously was ready to go. "Hi,"
she squeaked, uncertain of how to interact with the medicine cat's apprentice. Was she strictly polite as she was with her other superiors? Or more casual as this was someone of her own age? But by Nettlepaw's friendly nature, Emberpaw felt inclined to relax. And at least her paw seemed to be in passionate care. She continued sitting, waiting patiently for whatever healing herbs would help with the stinging bite. She looked about the den with wandering eyes. So many medicinal leaves and seeds and flowers and berries stared back at her. It was a wonder how anyone took on such a job. It seemed so daunting! "This is a lot," she said quietly, not particularly to herself nor Nettlepaw. But a sharp pain rippled through her foot as a new distraction, and she squirmed uncomfortably. "Great StarClan!" she exclaimed despite herself, "That hurts!" An unnecessary statement really. She spat out another annoyed comment, "I'm a real mousebrain for letting this happen.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

NETTLEPAW you may say I'm a dreamer but I'm not only one
Nettlepaw looked at the apprentice with corner of one eye, hearing her pains and quickly rushed near her with herbs, it was dandelion, marigold, catchweed and cobweb. Observed the wound again and whispered "I am gonna apply dandelion, it's gonna numb the pain, so it wouldn't sting so much when putting on marigold..." She carefully and slowly applied the herb that would cover the whole wound and waited a few minutes for it to effect the whole forepaw, then she neatly chewed marigold and applied it, since the dandelion acted like a painkiller, it shouldn't sting as so much.
Then she gently applied catchweed on the worst parts that burn the wound, and they were also most covered in the herb. "Now we finish off with the cobweb." She gently pressed the paw to bind the forepaw with thick layered webs and neatly fixed it to cover the whole paw. "There! All done." Contently smiled the cat and checked everything again and sighed.
"Now you can't do any major activities with that paw, unfortunately. That means you can't really train or hunt, or fight until the paw is fully healed. You can come back in quarter or half moon, depending if it stills feel quite stingy to you, it should be healed afterwards." She calmly smiled in her own content, she was happy that she done her first major job on her own, she even acted professionally, just how Iceshard told her.
