Tigershadow waited in the shadows of the sandy hollow, waiting for her apprentice, Dovepaw, to arrive. She had warned her that training was due, and boy, did Tigershadow have a plan for her apprentice! She was going to teach her battle training, tree climbing, and hunting.
She just hoped Dovepaw had the patience to put up with her mentor, She'd never done this before.

A patch of grass began to shake as it was parted to reveal a light grey she-cat. Dovepaw walked into the sandy hollow her ears perked and ready to listen. she had the excitement of training and didn't show it unlike some apprentices.

Tigershadow's voice appeared from the shadows "Come find me, Dovepaw. Track my scent."

Dovepaw pointed her head up and breathed in the scents of the sandy hollow and she silently stepped toward her mentor's hiding place. She remained silent and began to stalk the prey that her mentor was making herself look like.

Tigershadow certainly wasn't expecting the newly apprenticed Dovepaw to find her so quickly.
"Good job!" She purred at her apprentice. "Today, she began, we're going to start with stalking techniques. Yours was good, but not perfect, so definitely needs some practice."
With that, she walked into the middle of the clearing.

"Okay, Dovepaw. I want you to pretend I am a Mouse. Stalk me as you would a mouse."
Tigershadow waited for her apprentice to stalk her.

Dovepaw stopped as if taken aback by her mentor's words. she shook the thought from her head as she leaped away and into the bushes. she leaped onto a tree branch like she had seen Darkpaw do. peering down at each section of the sandy hollow still listening for any movement she saw the whole battlefield as it appeared in front of her. she thought for a moment then silently leaped into the next tree. swift as a squirrel she shook the branch then leaped down and ran over to her original tree still watching her prey.

Tigershadow drew a paw across her ear self-consciously. Dovepaw, it seemed, had completely disappeared. Suddenly she caught her scent. The trees? She plans to pounce me? Well, i'll be ready... just let her try.
"Dovepaw, you realise that's to hunt birds, right? You stalk a mouse."

The silver tabby leaped from her hiding place where her mentor wasn't looking. soon she had her mentor tackled and sat licking her fur down. Not if you trick the mouse into looking some where you aren't. she meowed between licks.

"Get off me, you great lump!" Tigershadow tipped Dovepaw gently off her back, and purred.
"That was good, now, can you tell me the difference between stalking a rabbit and stalking a mouse?"

A mouse is smaller and slower then a rabbit. A mouse isn't as good as hearing as a rabbit. so when hunting a rabbit you must be swift fast agile and able to stalk quietly. Dovepaw said as she climbed off her mentor.
