EMBERPAW Emberpaw limped around the Great Sycamore, glancing up at it in frustration. "I used to be able to climb you... Stupid tree... Stupid adder... Stupid me..." she muttered under her breath. Nettlepaw had told her she had to wait a half moon to continue training due to the bite on her paw. It was swollen still, and putting too much pressure on it was painful. The first few days had been alright, she'd made do by keeping the elders happy and completing menial tasks around the camp. But being cooped up all day without any progress in her training was terrible. The other apprentices would gain at the least a tiny edge against her during that half moon. She prided herself in being dedicated, but now that was gone.
She sighed and halted. All this limping was doing was wearing her out. She sat down on the forest floor, gazing about the area. She'd left camp despite Nettlepaw's advice to take it easy. She needed to get out. There was a lot of frustration with the whole situation to be released. It was a rare moment such as this in which she wished to have someone to talk to.

.Ashpaw. Ashpaw watched Emberpaw from the shadows of the surrounding undergrowth. He was close enough to hear her talking to the tree. He held back a snicker as she blamed the tree for her troubles. He had been frightened by what happened to the other apprentice, as had all of the apprentices in the clan, but now that he knew she would be fine, he thought it would be fun to tease he a little. He waited a little longer, but was unable to stay hidden any longer. He darted from his hiding place then raced in front of Emberpaw before quickly climbing up the side of the tree, and stopping suddenly in one of the high limbs. He looked down at the she-cat below him. He was purring from the excitement of the dash. He laid down on his stomach, letting his tail and paws dangle below him, his head tilted to look at Emberpaw. He could hear the wind in the leaves above him, and it ruffled his calico pelt. His long fur stirred softly by the breath of air, cooling him from the summer heat. He liked the shade the trees offered, despising being wet due the his heavy fur, and heat made him unable to bare the long coat he supported year round. Only in the winter did his fur offer him a blessing, instead of the curse it proved to be the rest of the year. His orange markings standing out as the wind parted the leaves, allowing small streaks of sunlight to hit his hiding place, where he sot to avoid the sun. He didn't mind, as the light forced Emberpaw's attention to his face, allowing him to better judge her thoughts, and emotions.

EMBERPAW She hadn't sensed any eyes on her, and therefore the little she-cat nearly leaped out of her skin at the sudden flash of movement in front of her. She hopped to her paws quickly, her pelt standing on end. She took a brief moment to see just what had just bolted from the brush. She caught a glance of a grey calico figure snaking up the tree with ease. Ashpaw. He settled contently on a branch far above her head, peering down calmly as if his arrival was to be expected. She hadn't spoken to the fellow apprentice much before, but oh, he was certainly about to get an earful. "You furball! What are you doing popping out of no where like that?! Do you have no sense?!" she hissed, her heart still pounding from the sudden scare. Her anger was false; rather being a cover up for being so startled. How long had he been there? She had come here to be alone, and hadn't noticed his presence. It was embarrassing. And what was he doing darting up that tree like he was something special? Had he heard her skulking? She growled slightly. Her annoyance was very apparent. "Enjoying yourself up there?"
she remarked sarcastically, her amber eyes watching him warily. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

.Ashpaw.
Ashpaw started to purr slightly to himself as she started yelling at him. Did you really think you were alone? he called down calmly. He watched he, knowing full well she did. She nearly jumped out of her pelt, and would of likely attacked him, had he not dashed up the great tree. He enjoyed irritating the other apprentices, but teasing her was more fun than he had expected. He knew that soon he would have to give in, but for not he had her going. Why yes, care to join me? he asked, his voice and body language arrogant and carefree. He wanted to know just how far he could go, but he guessed that wouldn't be far. She was already in a bad mood, and he didn't really want to have to deal with her when she went back to camp if she stayed that way.
OOC: Sorry it took me so long to reply.

EMBERPAW She glared at him. It seemed his sole intention was to ruffle her fur, and although her better judgement told her to keep cool, her temper was out of control. She'd been so frustrated with everything as of lately, and now she was having to put up with Ashpaw's antics? The situation was begging for her to snap. Everything that had built up within her was bubbling up and ready to ooze out. "Yes, I had thought I was alone. I wanted to be. But now I unfortunately am stuck listening to you," she growled, her fur hot with anger and annoyance. It took the littlest things to rile her up. She hissed at his next comment. "Go find some other cat to taunt, why don't you? What benefit is it pestering me? Infuriating me? We share a den you know. I'll get a hold of you come night fall."

.Ashpaw. He watched her, his yellow eyes shining in the sun's light. At her next outburst he knew he had come to her breaking point, and had to change tactics. He didn't want to be her enemy, but that seemed to be where they were headed. I know, I know. Well, I guess that means I'll have to spend the day all alone. he said, then jumped down. He stayed a safe distance from here, but still close enough to be in danger if he moved in her direction any. He looked ginger and white she-cat apprentice. He liked her, in part because she was different than the other apprentices he knew, and partly because unlike some of the she-cats he knew, she stood up for her self and refused to back down, well most of the time. I suppose I should leave you here to be alone, and bored, while I have all the fun. he called softly over his shoulder as he walked off. He made sure to move as slowly as possible as he walked back to where he had been hiding, then stalked off behind a tree, out of sight. There he waited, hidden and silent, as he listened for her answer. Would she follow, or stay here and pout some more? He was determined to make her move, he just didn't know how yet.

EMBERPAW Emberpaw's body remained tense as she eyed the tom in the tree, sitting silently for a moment as she anticipated him to respond. But his tone changed. No longer was there an air of obnoxious insolence in his voice, but rather a retreat. Perhaps he'd realized she wasn't in the mood to be messed with. Yet she felt her own hot discontent burning off of her fur, and was suddenly washed with guilt for being so harsh to Ashpaw. He'd done her no harm. Certainly, he seemed a little arrogant, but what was it to her? Her inability to train or hunt or climb this tree were no one's faults but her own. She was the one who had stumbled over that adder carelessly. She was only further embarrassing herself by making a show of her injury. She held her head down, uncertain of what to say as Ashpaw leaped from the tree. She was at a loss - an uncommon occurrence for the typically witty she-cat. He was making his exit, but she couldn't let him go without apologizing. Her eyes flashed up to catch him just as he snuck off out of sight. "Um... Ashpaw! Wait up?" she called out as she hobbled after him, "I didn't mean to run you off. I'm... just annoyed, you know? Bad mood, bad time..." She paused, waiting for a beat before spitting out a rare word. "Sorry."

.Ashpaw. Ashpaw watched from where he hid. As the sound of his name he started to purr again. It had worked. Now that he had her attention, he needed to thing of something quick that they could both do. When she came over to him, and spoke, her words surprised him. She had always been prickly and stubborn before, never apologizing. Then a thought occurred to him, did she mean for him to apologize? He had considered it, but at the thought, he changed his mind. If that was her plan, it wouldn't work. So, what are you up for? he asked, his voice friendly and welcoming. He tended to the the trouble maker in his den, and of the whole clan, but he wasn't a bad cat, just independent and strong willed. He looked at the orange and white apprentice before him, trying to think of something she could do with her wounded paw. He knew that hunting was out, and so was walking any distance, but there had to be something they could to that would give her a chance to relax and have fun.
