Name: Squirrelash
Gender: She-cat
Age: 22 moons
Clan: Shadowclan
Rank: Warrior
Appearance: Tortoiseshell she-cat with pale green eyes. Her tail is thick and bushy giving her the first part of her name.
Personality:
Squirrelash is quite a unique cat. She is sometimes referred to as 'strange' or 'odd' by members of her Clan, but she never minds. Most of her Clan already knows her strange traits and habits and accept her as she is. Overall she is a very pleasant cat - she is one of the kindest cats you'll meet, not to mention the more sincere, as well as a true cat pleaser. She aims to help out any and all cats in need, whether suffering through a personal turmoil or a civil dispute, mostly because of her secret strife to make ShadowClan more pleasant than it already is. She has been considerate and kind like this since her kittenhood, which she is slightly proud of (as she does not like to indulge in vices).
Squirrelash is a very spiritual cat, which can lead to some strange habits. She puts all her faith in StarClan and she likes to 'interpret signs' that she believes are from them (which are often nothing more than a regular ripple of water; in her book, everything has a purpose and reason though). She is quite imaginative, I guess one could also say. She attempts to 'read her ancestors' or the stars in the sky when she is in personal trouble to try and seek answers as to what she should do. Likewise, she is very superstitious. She believes in bad and good omens and is often seen scratching at the dirt to ward off bad omens. Like I said, most ShadowClan cats are used to her strange behavior, but when she meets a cat from a different Clan they are often very confused. Not that she minds at all, of course.
Squirrelash, being a very spiritual cat, holds the warrior code dear to her heart. She believes it is truly what her ancestors knew was the correct way to live, and although she would never vocalize her judgment of other cats, she desperately worries for cats who she sees breaking the code. Although it would seem that she would have been a model medicine cat, she never once considered the position. This reason being that she is an airhead and cannot remember much. Her mind is always traveling much faster than her mouth, her body, and everything else - causing her to sometimes mess up her words or clumsily fall and trip many times. Being a rather spacey cat, she knew from the beginning that there was no way she would ever remember all of the herbs and plants needed to treat other cats - heck, she could barely remember how to hunt some times! Thus, she used her talents of quick claws and jumps (with some clumsy falls occasionally) to train to become a warrior of ShadowClan. Her truest desires come from the future of Shadowclan itself: the kits. She spends a good amount of her time helping in the nursery or working with the queens there. Perhaps she'd have kits of her own someday? Either way she's content with taking care of someone elses.
History: Squirrelkit was the daughter of Paleflower and Ragingstorm in their second litter. Paleflower was a very pretty and sweet she-cat with a pale tabby coat and dark-colored feet. Ragingstorm was a powerful and large ginger tomcat with fierce blue eyes. Both cats seemed like a model couple - a sweet, darling she-cat and a large, strong tomcat. Everything about them seemed like a fairy tale. As far as anyone in ShadowClan knew, neither had ever argued with one another, and their courtship had always been most pleasant. Although they were fairly new warriors when they mated, both had been close ever since kittenhood; both Paleflower and Ragingstorm had been in the nursery together many many moons ago. The birth of their first litter was joyous to ShadowClan who had no kittens for several moons. The first litter had two tomcats, Redkit and Flamekit. Paleflower and Ragingstorm were breathless upon seeing their kittens - they adored them. Ragingstorm often slacked off patrol duty to visit his lover and his sons in the nursery as they grew up.
Before they knew it, Redkit had become Redpaw and Flamekit had become Flamepaw. Paleflower and Ragingstorm had been so proud of their strong-willed sons as they advanced in life. Soon, the happy couple found that Paleflower had become pregnant once more. Moons later, as Redpaw and Flamepaw were shy of becoming warriors, Paleflower went into labor once more. It was Leafbare by now, and Paleflower had come down with a nasty case of greencough during the late pregnancy. She birthed three kittens this time - two she-cats and one tom. Sadly, the tom died shortly after birth. Even worse, Paleflower's case of greencough became very serious in the days following the birth. The kittens, named Squirrelkit and Nettlekit, were taken into the nursery to be cared for by another queen while their mother was treated in the medicine den. Sadly, the infection spread too quickly and Paleflower ended up passing away that winter; Nettlekit had caught the same case from her mother and also ended up passing away (although the medicine cat speculated that there was something more serious wrong with her that they could not diagnose).
Squirrelkit grew up under the wing of the other cats in the nursery as well as a strange old she-cat named Crookedface. Spottedkit had met Crookedface when she was 5 moons old and secretly wandering camp. The two quickly formed a bond, as Crookedface had lost her kits when she was young and felt like a mother to Squirrelkit. It is Crookedface who taught her to be spiritual and look beyond what the eye can see for a meaning in everything; arguably, Crookedface also made Squirrelkit the superstitious cat that she is as well. Regardless, both cats got along great and often would hang out even through Squirrelpaw's apprenticeship. Crookedface often told Squirrelpaw that she had 'heard' Paleflower tell her how much she loved her daughter and how well she had grown up (which is debatable, seeing as Crookedface was actually senile and suffering from delusions by this time). Squirrelpaw adored the older she-cat, and she became one of her favorite cats next to her older brothers. Two moons after she received her warrior name, Crookedface passed in the night from unknown causes. To Squirrelash it was like losing a mother all over again, but being spiritual she knew Crookedface was in a better place and that they should definitely meet again one day.
