.Spottedfur.
The old tom looked around. Clouds covered the pale blue sky. The sun was high, but a cold breeze sweep between the evergreens that sheltered Shadowclan. He walked outside the elder's den and looked around. Other warriors were huddled together, sharing tongues and gossip. Not having anyone to talk to, he kept moving. He knew full well that his clanmates did not approve of him, an elder, leading the camp, but who was going to stop him? No one had ever managed to change his mind before. So with that, the stubborn white and gray spotted tom walked stiffly across the Shadowclan camp. He looked over his shoulder as he neared the camp entrance, seeing if any would challenge him rights. Seeing no one, he turned back and slipped out the entrance, and out into the pine forest. He had no place in mind, he simply enjoyed the freedom that had been taken when he became an elder. Sure he didn't have to hunt and fight and starve like warriors, but what did he do? Sleep and grow fat while the warriors and apprentices looked after him? How could he do that, when he was an apprentice and a warrior once himself? No, that life wasn't for him, and they couldn't tell him any other way.

Paleheart
Paleheart walked out of the warriors den still annoyed that the medicine cat wanted her to be an elder when she was so young. With a shake of her head she walked out of camp her gaze flicking from side to side. Curiosity flared up inside her when she saw that Spottedfur was also out of camp and she walked over to the elder. "Hey Spotted..." she started to say but was interrupted by a fit of coughing. She had, had her cough since she was a kit and refused to believe that moving to the elders den would make it better. 'The only way I'll join the elders is if the leader forces me to,' she thought flicking her tail.

He turned slightly startled to find that he had been wrong, another cat had followed him out. As he turned her heard a greeting from the other cat. The gently greeting was cut short by a violent coughing fit. He sighed and shook his head sadly. Paleheart. The poor she-cat warrior who has been cursed to carry a cough that could not be cured. He was unsure how to act around the frail warrior, but knew not to point out weaknesses. Oh, Paleheart, hello dear. What brings you out this fine day? he asked when she had her cough under control. He chose how to ask how she was, knowing it made him look worried and her look weak. He instead acted as if it never happened. That way he treated her as he would any other warrior. It was not that the white and gray spotted elder did not care, but in fact he did care, just too much to offend her over trivial questions of health. He wanted her to see him as a sort of friend, and did not want to be disrespectful. He knew that she Medicine Cat had been urging her to join the elders in the Elder Den, but she had refused. He admired her drive to serve, even at the cost of her health and ease of life. She suffered daily for her clan. He disliked living in the Elder's Den, but he was in truth an elder and unable to serve as a Warrior should anymore. Not so for her, much younger that Spottedfur himself, Paleheart had learned to live with her illness, and was stronger because of it. No, it was misfortune that she should be the one who suffered, when she had already done so much for her clan.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

"I just came out here to get out of camp," Paleheart meowed gazing up at the sky glad that she was apart of Shadowclan and not some other clan. In her mind Shadowclan was the strongest clan of the forest. "What are...you doing here?" she asked hesitating a little as a bird called out an alarm call from far off.

Tigerclaw chuckled as he got his first kill of the day. He had left the camp for the day and was enjoying his alone time. He picked up the bird he had caught and then his ears lifted as another bird called out in alarm. "Mouse brain why didn't I notice that bird before," he growled. Now that he had scared some prey he knew that someone would have heard so he grabbed his kill and began to walk to the camp. He wasn't very far when a familier scent flared up near by. He looked around and spotted a very familier shape. He walked over and nosed his way out and stood next to the cats next to him. He put his prey down and looked at them "Hello Paleheart, and to you as well Spottedfur" he said to the older warriors. "What brings you out this fine day?" He asked wondering why Spottedfur was out.

Paleheart turned to see Tigerclaw and dipped her head to her younger clan mate. She wasn't that much older then him but would probably be forced to become an elder. "Hello, Tigerclaw how..." she started to say but was interrupted by another fit of coughing. "...You been?" she asked finishing her question once the coughing fit had passed.

"I have been very bored as of lately, and very bad at getting prey." Tigerclaw said as he looked at his paws. He felt a pang of sympathy and concern for Paleheart and wished her many moons that she could finally be rid of her cough and he felt bad because he wasn't like her. He would never understand why medicine cats couldn't help her. He knew that she was a very rare case and wondered why Starclan had cursed her. He looked at Spottedfur for a second and thought that the older tom might know something that happened in camp that Tigerclaw wasn't there for.

The elder listened kindly as Paleheart spoke, then looked up as a bird startled, crying a warning to all the other prey. He looked up at Tigerclaw joined them. Great, another warrior. he thought, having no intentions of returning to camp yet. Hello Tigerclaw. I, uh, er... I had planned to slip out for a bit of a walk, but seeing that I got caught... he said awkwardly, but his eyes shone with his amusement at the situation. He wished he was able to leave the camp without being questioned, but even when he was questioned he had more amusement than he would if he stayed put like he was told. As he heard Tigerclaw's response to Paleheart, he smiled. It seems you didn't do too badly. he said motioning to the bird that he had been carrying. [/blockquote][/blockquote]
