Goldenheart walked out of the warrior den and looked around the clearing at his clan mates that were already up. With a shake of his head he walked over to the apprentice den poking his head inside. "Darkpaw, time to wake up," he called to his apprentice hoping that he would wake up and walked over to the camp entrance to wait for his apprentice.

Darkpaw, Thunderclan Apprentice
The dark apprentice's ear twitched as he heard his mentor calling his name. He rose to his paws and shook the moss and bracken out of his pelt. He walked out of the den and looked around the camp. He spotted his mentor at the entrance and raced to meet him. "Where are we going today Goldenheart?" he asked. Thoughts buzzed in his mind as he tried to think of what they were going to do. They might even climb some trees. The thought made him tingle from nose to tail. He had to sit to keep him from bouncing around like a kit.

"We are going to tall pine to hunt," Goldenheart meowed glancing up at the sky. "Hopefully there will be some prey," he meowed and led his apprentice out of camp.

Darkpaw, Thunderclan Apprentice
Darkpaw ran after his mentor trying hard not to go racing past him. he loved the forest. he loved the soft crunch of leaves under his paws. now it was cold and he hated the cold it reminded him of him and dovepaw freezeing all those seasons ago.

Goldenheart continued walking until they reached tall pines and he tasted the air for prey and caught the scent of a mouse dropping into he crouch he began to stalk towards the unsuspecting creature his paws making no sound on the earth. He narrowed his amber eyes and pounced landed right on top of the mouse. Smiling he nipped it's spine killing it and buried it before returning to his apprentice.

Darkpaw Thunderclan Apprentice
Darkpaw had noticed something when his mentor was stalking a mouse. A squrriel was sitting on the roots. A grin went accross his face and leaped toward the squrriel. He landed on it snapping it's neck silently. He carried it back as he wathed his mentor pounce on a mouse. He knew how to hunt since he was the hunter when him and dovepaw were kits. Darkpaw put the squirrel down at his mentors paws when he returned. "What's next?" He asked.

"We should hunt more, we are running low on prey," Goldenheart meowed motioning for his apprentice to be quiet as he spotted at blackbird. Then he crept up behind the bird and purposely missed the bird sending it flying right at Darkpaw.

Darkpaw Thunderclan Apprentice
Darkpaw saw the black bird fly. He leaped missing it but landing on a trree on a low branch. He leaped off the branch and slambed the bird down against a root. It hit it's neck on a root and went limp. Darkpaw picked it up and ran back to his mentor. "Mouse dung." He muttered through feathers. He knew he had messed it up by missing the bird.

Goldenheart saw his apprentice miss the bird and frowned wondering if they should continue hunting or return to camp. It was just harder to cat prey in Leafbare then it was any other time.

Darkpaw's ears drooped now feeling bad that he had failed his mentor. He should be one of the best hunters he was hunting as a kit. He knew his skills were faltering.
