.Ratstar. [/u] Ratstar approached just in time to see Luckystrike hurry to get out from under Smokepelt. They both looked surprised, and slightly frightened at they watched him approach. They fur stuck out nearly as bad as his, adding to the effect of their appearance. He had to try hard not to laugh, and instead focused on keeping a straight face. He knew they must think he would be mad, though why he hadn't been able to figure out, other that his bad, or impressive, timing. That depended on whose side you were on. They both stood apart, tense and guiltily looking as he glanced over them both. Then Luckystrike found his voice and spoke up. Ratstar could hardly keep from laughing, but managed to keep his thoughts to himself. He looked at them both again, then thought it would be fun, if unleader like, to play with them a bit.
I do not understand, what foolishness do you speak of? I see no distraction. Please explain. he spoke with a flat, yet slightly confused tone.
He waited patiently to see how they would respond, knowing full well that they would not be pleased themselves if they found him toying with them. In truth he was pleased that Smokepelt had gotten Luckystrike to loosen up, and to enjoy some fun. Although it was true that he had intended to go, and that he had remembered he could not at the last minute, he had hoped that all would work out. He knew that Luckystrike was far to serious at times, and Smokepelt still very kit-like in her own turn. He hoped that they would work well together and balance each other out. From what his scenes told him, he had been right, and it had happened much more quickly than he had imagined or dared hope. There were trying times for Windclan, and he needed his warriors, and his clan, to be ready for what ever came next.

Luckystrike kept his face of stone at his leader’s words and started to dismiss his words from earlier. If he hadn’t seen it then there was no need to speak on it now was it? He shook his head looking over at Smokepelt for a moment before speaking. His tone about as even and neutral as it usually was although the small flicker in his eyes showed how tense he was inside. What he was curious on was why his leader had returned to patrol with them after they had been off for a while. Had this all been a set up because it that was the case Luckystrike would not be pleased when he found out and he wasn’t one of those cats that stood of into the side lines filled with ignorance he would find out sooner or later. If it was what he suspected, there would be hell to pay for someone.
“Nothing speaking on nonsense, what brought you back to patrol with us?”
He seems slightly annoyed perhaps it was because he had been spooked, he didn’t know but he wanted both of their presence to go away. Now he didn’t want Smokepelt to play with nor Ratstar to joke with him at times on their busy days, this ginger furball wanted solitude. Being around Smokepelt’s presence had made him slightly uneasy till he had warmed up to her, but his leader sneaking up on him sent him right back into the serious state. He had no business playing and it seemed that was mainly want the she-cat did, therefore he could not be as friendly with her as they had been. That brief moment of what he thought could be friendship had disappeared faster than his heart beat. He knew no one else could register what was going on through his mind at the moment but he would make one thing clear with Smokepelt, this patrol incident was never going to happen again. His tail flicked as he waited for his leaders reply staring almost through Ratstar not even daring to glance at Smokepelt anymore.

.Ratstar & Smokepelt. [/u]
Ratstar watched the ginger tom's expression change quickly from fright to anger. He hadn't meant to upset the tom, but thinking on it, it wasn't that hard to do. His deputy had always been too serious for his taste, though he was reliant on his mature advice and help. He listened to Luckystrike's annoyed response, and a thought crossed his mind. He would have to tread lightly to avoid further pushing his deputy away. He looked over at Smokepelt to see if she had anything to say before explaining his reasons. With a deep breath he shifted his head to take in both cats at once, though this was made difficult by the distance they had put between themselves.
I had to finish some things around camp that I had promised to do, but had forgotten until we had started to leave. Once I finished those, I wanted to check up on the Shadowclan boarder, to settle my mind. I noticed your scents, and followed them here. I hoped that I could speak to you about your patrol, and make sure Shadowclan hasn't been causing any more trouble. Seeing that you two are headed toward camp, I assume all is well? he asked, his voice serious yet calm.
Smokepelt looked over at Luckystrike, his bad mood having appeared with Ratstar's appearance. She let out a sigh, oh well, she had tried. Though it hurt her to think that Luckystrike may blame her for this situation. She would just have to think of something else, and hope it worked. She looked back to Ratstar, her hazel eyes resting on him as he spoke. She knew that she should let Luckystrike speak, but seeing that he wasn't in a talking mood, she stepped up.
We checked the Shadowclan boarder, but saw no signs of any threat from them. Have you found anything? she asked, intending to compare their finds. Windclan couldn't afford another sneak attack. Not now at least.
Ratstar nodded. No, I didn't notice anything unusual, though I don't expect this peace to last long. They are up to something, and it can't be good. he replied to her question. He then looked between Luckystrike and Smokepelt. He dipped his head then spoke again.
If that is all, I will let you two finish your patrol, then meet back with he at my den when you return to camp. he said, then left, hoping to give them time to calm down and gather their thoughts before he spoke the rest of what was on his mind.

Luckystrike just watched the exchange of words unfold in front of his eyes. He had been present but heard nothing; he was all too distant in his own mind. He looked like an utter fool, freaking out and them becoming shameful but pissed. He had finally seemed to lose his mind. He didn’t understand what was wrong with him, he hadn’t been this way when he was a kit had he? He wasn’t certain anymore nothing seemed real and his past was something he could never seem to fully recall. What had happen to him to make him this way? To be so serious so he could pull away from the enjoyments of life, why had he done that? Why did he still do that? Had it become a habit enforced upon him or a choice? So many questions raced through his mind and he figured only one she-cat would know the answer, Brooksplash. His eyes flickered over to Ratstar’s moving lips but he couldn’t seem to make out what he was say, what was he talking about? There was a dog around! Didn’t he hear that howling? He looked over his shoulder to see a ghostly frame rather than Smokepelt. The ghostly frame of a cat wandered forward towards him with faint smile on its face. Mutter something he couldn’t’ catch, “My boy…my boy...”
Boy? What in the hell was going on? He had to eat some plant he shouldn’t of had, the cat still pushed forward now in a sprint as he ran into the earth disappearing. He heard a high pitch yowl followed by a whimper, he whisked around to find a small orange body at his feet looking up at him shivering. Luckystrike wanted to speak but couldn’t find his voice but the little kit had it spoke loud and clear.
“I played too much... now she is gone”
His mind seem to rush backwards as his ears twitched, he caught the end of Ratstar’s sentence. He shook his head looking the little leader over. He wasn’t certain what to do, what in Starclan was that bout? Maybe he was hallucinating? He really needed to speak to Brooksplash about what happen to his mother, it was now bothering him to a further extent than before. His amber eyes rested on Ratstar, well clearly he had something else to say so why didn’t he just say it? He needed to go speak to his acquaintance rather than these too and if his leader wanted to scold him about being serious or not being serious he didn’t care at all. He just wanted this to finish up now; he had business to attend to at the moment.
“I suspect you have something else to say?”
His voice came out a bit louder than he liked a bit more demanding, he hadn’t meant to sound this way but he didn’t have time for scolding he wasn’t a kit. His eyes glued to his leaders body as he waited for the answer of his question. He didn’t even dare to look over at Smokepelt anymore, he had nothing to with her anymore.
OOC: Sorry I had nothing else come to mind so I had Luckystrike freak out a bit.

.Ratstar & Smokepelt. [/u]
Smokepelt quickly glanced at Luckystrike, but could tell that he wanted nothing to do with her by the way he studiously avoided eye contact. Well he certainly did not make friends easily, but she refused to let that bother her. She would glue herself to him if need be. Then another thought occured. Maybe he wasn't without friends. She had often seen Brooksplash talking to him. Just then she realized that not only was Luckystrike ignoring her, he didn't even seem to be listening to Ratstar. What was wrong with him? He seemed to be dreaming, only he was awake. She looked away and listened to Ratstar, at least one of them needed to. She nodded as Ratstar finished speaking, and watched as he stood and started to walk away. Just then Luckystrike spoke, causing her to jump, startled at the unexpected sound of his voice. Ratstar heard Luckystrike's question, and the tone that came with it. He slowly turned around and walked back to where he had sat.
I do, though I doubt it is what you think. I need your options on how to best prepare the clan for another attack. I am sure that you both have come to the same conclusion I have, that is that this is just the calm before the storm. We will be easy targets if we do nothing. he said, speaking to both cats before him as equals.
He meant no harm or disrespect, but he knew that he needed all the help he could get, and also, Luckystrike didn't seem to be himself this day. He sat down and looked at Smokepelt, looking her over before moving on to Luckystrike. He looked long and hard at them both, searching for something, seeming to see into them for a moment. Then he blinked slowly and refocused his eyes, taking them both in again at the same time. He waited, wanting to see what they would say. He had wanted to wait, to reveal his plan later, because he knew he would not be held high in the minds of either of them for many moons after, but it was the only way. He would start here, then work up.
