Ratstar grunted in his sleep as he was now uncomfortable. Blinking open his eyes he rolled over and laid more comfortably. He then began to feel the coldness of being alone in his den. Rising to his paws, he then growled in frustration with himself when his head hit the top to the den he had walked in and out of 500 times. Shaking off the anger of hitting his head he walked out of his den and began to groom his grey fur.

Smokepelt [/u]
The sun was just rising then the young warrior awoke. She looked around, seeing who had already left the warrior's den. A few nests were empty, but many of the warriors were still sleeping, soon to awake and begin daily chores. She bent her slender neck and began to clean her chest. Then moved to her paw. Suddenly, without warning she sprung from her nest, and leaped over the sleeping forms of the other warriors. With a kit like excitement, she began racing around the camp, then turned suddenly to the side. When she looked up, she realized where she was, and tried to stop suddenly. Being unable to stop herself, she skidded clumsily into another cat, who to her horror, she realized to be Ratstar, her leader. She quickly backed up, stammering apologies, but she knew that he must have seen the whole thing. She could only guess what kind of trouble she would be in now.

Ratstar looked up from his grooming to notice just barely that Smokepelt was heading strait for him. The next moments felt as if they were going faster then they were. Ratstar felt the ground leaving the bottom of his pads and spun mid air so he would land on his paws at least. When he did he shook the fur out from in front of his eye and looked at Smokepelt. "What is the rush the prey isn't even up yet" he meowed a bit amused with the young warrior.

Smokepelt [/u]
The young smoke gray she-cat looked at her leader, still trying to tell him that she hadn't known he was sitting there. I...I'm so...sorry, Ratstar. I just got excited and wanted to run, and...and I turned and... she stopped, then catching her breath she tried again. I don't know what happened really, I'm sorry, it won't happen again, Ratstar. she said in a calmer voice. Then quickly, sheepishly looked away, afraid to see how he would respond to her foolishness. She was a warrior now, and here she was, before Ratstar no less, goofing around like a kit. No, she had to stop this, but how? She was always doing things like this, for no apparent reason, she felt the need to give in to her past once in a while.

There is no reason to be sorry, Smokepelt I find it fun to go back into the past once in a while. Ratstar meowed as he looked toward the Riverclan border. Go on I'll let it go this time and please next time do try to pay attention to the cats around you. He said as he went back to grooming himself.

Smokepelt [/u]
She looked up at Ratstar, surprised by his words and his acceptance. I will. she said, looking at him again. Then thinking better added, Thank you. She turned to leave, then a thought occurred to her. No, she thought, shaking her head. She could ask to go on patrol, but she couldn't ask that. Then without thinking she turned back. Could be go on a patrol together? she asked, shocked when she realized that she spoke the words out loud. She was still acting like a kit. She knew that Ratstar was busy, and that he wouldn't have time to go, and even if he did, why would he want to go with her? She respected him, but that was her place, as it was the place of all the cats in the clan. She started to slowly turn to join the rest of the warriors that had just woken up.

"Smokepelt wait" Ratstar called to her as he bound his way over to her. "I would love to go on patrol I rarely get to do anything now that Moonstar had that raid. A patrol sounds nice that is if you still wish to go." he meowed hoping he didn't sound to much like an apprentices asking his mentor to go on patrol with him.

Smokepelt thought he hadn't heard, and started to hope it was true, when he called her name. She stopped and turned her head to look over her shoulder. She was slightly taken aback by his words, but was glad to hear them. I do. she answered. She walked back a little closer to him, and stood by him, keeping a respectful distance from her clan leader. She quickly looked around the camp to see who else was around, then turned back to wait on Ratstar to lead the way. [/center][/blockquote]

Ratstar turned and took two steps before turning back to face her. is there any other cats that you would like to invite or is it going to be just us? Ratstar asked.

Luckystrike yawned crawling out the warriors den from his nap. Seeing his leader up and about he walked over to him still a bit grouchy from waking up. He dipped his head at Ratstar and Smokepelt. The expression on the younger warrior seem to be nervousness. He was considering questioning what that was about but thought better of that.
"Going out for a walk or patrol?"

Smokepelt started to reply to Ratstar's question, when she noticed Luckystrike heading toward them. She knew the other warrior, but hadn't gotten to know him very well yet. She glanced at Ratstar before flicking her ears in greeting to Luckystrike. Yes, would you like to come? she offered, thinking it best to be polite. She knew that if, or more so when, a battle happened she needed to know her clan mates as well as she could. This was a chance to do that, even if only a small one, it was still a start.

The deputies eyes flickered to Smokepelt. He wasn't really sure if he wanted to tag along but six ears were better than four. He looked at his small leader as if waiting for him to accept rather than the younger warrior. He turned slightly to his leader and spoke not to be rude but it was better to ask permission from the higher authority at the moment. He also didn't wish to speak directly to her as he did not know her as well as he knew his leader but perhaps that was his own fault. Without a doubt he knew it was as he was too serious at times so he only talk to Ratstar who understood him well.
"If you are willing to have me..."

Smokepelt hoped that neither tom would be upset with for asking them both to go on patrol with her. She knew that she hadn't been a warrior as long as either of them, and that even if she had, they were both higher that the other warriors. Then again everyone needed a break once in a while, and this gave them both a chance to get out of the camp for a little while. She allowed them to take the lead as she followed, hoping that this wasn't a mistake. With the threats going around, it was dangerous to let your guard down, or to assume all was safe.

Ratstar led his way down to the entrance and waited for the patrol to leave. Hoping Luckystrike would take over and lead the patrol.

Luckystrike followed after his leader padding beside Smokepelt. He had little interest in her but that could be for he had never met her so when a awkward silence fell over them he spoke. His voice gruff and loud. His eyes looking straight ahead and his ear alert. He would start with small talk. His golden pelt blazed as the sun hit him. There no trees no protection from thw sun's rage that made his fur hot and shimmer.
"How's being a warrior now Smokepelt? Everything you expected?"

Smokepelt followed Ratstar to the camp entrance, then noticed as he waited to see if anyone would take to lead. She guessed that he was wanting Luckystrike to lead the patrol. She looked over at the golden tom as he stood beside her, thinking about how little she knew about the warrior. Being clan deputy, he was always busy, and she had only just been named a warrior a few moons ago, just over two. Listened as he spoke, thinking slightly before answering. She didn't want to sound like a kit before these two, knowing that they must already think of her that way. She wanted to act like a warrior was supposed to, so tried to speak like one to. It's great. Although I'm still getting used to being called a warrior, I really enjoy being able to do more for the clan. she answered, looking at Luckystrike, then shifting her gaze slightly when she finished. She was nervous around these cats, and this was the first time she was on a patrol with both of them, and the first time with either since she became a full warrior. She looked up as the hot sky as they stood outside the camp, wishing for the relief of clouds, or even a breeze. She looked back at the other warriors, not wanting to be rude by staring at the sky.

Luckystrike felt her uneasiness and rested his tail on her shoulder, a comforting normal gesture from one warrior to another. He had stopped when Ratstar had wondering why he had stopped. It would be best if he led it after all he was the leader. His attention turned back to Smokepelt his amber eyes boring into hers. In those eyes you might find comfort it just depended on what you saw in them.
"No need to act professional if it is not in your nature. I'd rather a cat be themself and loyal rather than a walking board that they pretend to be."
His voice was soft and he gave her a faint smile, he was serious usually but he knew that often made cats think they had to be serious around him. That was not the case, he tolerated other cats personalities as not every cat could be like him. Plus if every cat was like him the clan would be frankly boring. He found himself to be boring but he wasn't going to change that. It suited him well of so at least he thought so.

.Smokepelt. [/u] The pale gray she-cat watched the two tomcats go before her. Then Ratstar stopped, and she waited a moment, then turned to listen to Luckystrike. Oh, OK, thank you Luckystrike. she spoke softly, then turned to hear her leader. He had just remembered something, and asked if they would excuse him. He suggested that they still go on the patrol, even though he had planned to go along. They agreed, and Smokepelt let Luckystrike take a slight lead before moving alongside him. She admired the deputy of the clan, always seeming so much older and wiser than she saw herself. She hoped to be more like him when she was slightly older. She wanted the respect and trust that came along with the maturity level he showed. She tried to relax as they walked away from the clan entrance, but she was still unsure of herself around this tom. They had hardly spoken, and this was the first time they were alone together, or even on patrol together as far as she remembered.

Luckystrike watched his leader disappear with a faint curiousity of where he was going. But none the less he turned back his attention to leading the patrol listening and smelling intensely for any sighs of cats that did not belong to Windclan on their territory or use to be as it was often. He felt the tense air of silence greet them and he sighed looking over his shoulder at her slowly his pace so he could walk beside her.
"Do you fear speaking with me because I am serious to often or is it the fact I am larger than you?"
He was teasing her and he let it be known completely those amber eyes glowing a bit as watched her. He held back a slight chuckle not wanting to stress out his teasing anymore than he already had. It was quite common for cats of his own clan not to know what to say around him, he was the serious head figure. Not usually seen joking. Luckystrike use to be a goof ball till he had an unfortunate event of his friend past on his watch of being silly. That hard turned him serious but not anti-social, never could he be shaped into that factor. He just preferred not to speak much what was the need of it?
OOC:We can excuse Ratstar if you like ^_^
